Continued Creditor Harassment
After your bankruptcy case is filed, an "Automatic Stay Order" is issued.
This is a federal injunction which stops all creditor harassment including
telephone calls, lawsuits, garnishments, repossession threats, etc. Tell your
creditors you have filed bankruptcy or Chapter 13. Refer them to my office. If
they continue to bother you, I'll have them cited for contempt.
You don't have to put up with creditor harassment, after your case has been
filed.
If a creditor is particularly obnoxious, keep a careful record of their calls
and threats. In special cases, I can have them fined or punished.
- Say: "I am not paying you, good-bye." or "Take your best shot."
- Say: "Hold please" and put the phone on the floor. They can harass the
floor but cannot call back while the phone is off the hook
- After you have sent me a down payment, you may say: "Contact my attorney,
Bill Krajec at 217-525-2252".
